My interests in artistic media vary wildly; I have always been a painter but I have also explored jewelry, sculpture, mechanical/kinetic work, woodwork and glass. I have no wish to be the best at any one discipline; what I want is to combine the wee bits of everything I’ve learned and everything that interests me into something new and unique.
Much of my work focuses on a motif that has always been near and dear to my creative heart; the mystic, the spiritual, the unexplainable, the perception of divinity and our human connection to the divine. Not religion, per se, but work that serves as a visual interpretation of the sense of childlike wonder and awe in the face of the enigmatic.
Gods, devils, Elvis, holy relics, prophecy, kismet, the occasionally violent intersection of science and magic, unknown tongues, questionable origins, fauna specimens that may have been or never were, the Voynich Manuscript, Fortean events, carnival oddities, empires of the sun, kingdoms of the moon, and 1950s monster movies all serve as inspiration to me, and all are equally worthy of expression and exploration.
